How Deep do you Sleep?

I did a much larger, full color version of this idea back in 1992, maybe. I could sleep on a muscle bed with the sharks and octopus and all of the fish. Especially in the summer. I am working up a carved wood version too. A little less complicated but cool and fun. How deep do YOU sleep?

Tinkers Island Fish Company

I like this guy. My new spin doctor, pitchman, lightning rod for the PolarBear Fish Company. Why have a company if you don't get to boss someone around. But I had a revelation about the company name. The Polar Bear is a great image for me but the name wasn't exactly thrilling me. I was listening to NPR and they had a piece about tinkerers. And the light went on. I am a tinkerer. I love to make things and design things. Tinkers Island is one of my goto areas to fly fish. Perfect. Tinkers Island it is!

SketchBook it is. I am always doodling on extra pieces of paper at work. It obssesive but fun.

WOODEN FISH

I finally took pictures of my carved fish. This is the whole lineup. Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Bluefin Tuna, Cod, Bluefish, Humpback Whale & Striper. Now I need to go out and hustle them. It would be a fun job!

Great White Hunter

Seal meat, seal meat, seal meat, it get a bit boring. How about sushi! The polar bears are going to have to change with the environment. As the ice flows thaw, another option will come up the coast. Its been a long time between posts (and drawings). Fall is approaching and it just seems like the right time to get back to work. Summer is for fishing and the other months are for dreaming of fishing.

Unicorn-on-the-Cob

My favorite ceramic horse, Old Paint, in a new role. Hardly the images we see in fairy tales but it can happen. Only the beautiful horses have fantasy lives, I don't think so. I have had this small statue of Old Paint for as long as I can remember. There was a singing cowboy playing the guitar also but I can not recall when he broke. But it was back in the 60's. Old Paint is kind of tired and falling apart. I would love to see a new one.

Jack Acid Springs

Jack Acid Spring Water is refreshing and startlingly crisp. Quenching hundreds of thirsts daily.

The virtual athlete, strong thumbs, well informed about the ballgame. He just has to find out when to squeeze the glove and the play can be made. Good Luck.

Why walk (mermaids can't really walk) when you can ride a scooter. No license, no registration. 50 cc of motorized fun.

Landing an illustration job

Landing your first assignment. I seems to coming in a little too easily. It's bound to take a few runs and try to get away. I think I can handle it.

A fun idea I had for long time. More of an idea than an illustration. Much better in my head than this. I'll finish it later, probably a little different.

Busy

If only the laptop could walk the dog for you. MACs probably can, I wouldn't know about PCs.

The Great White

Taste the predators choice. The Pacific Chardonnay is crisp and clean, sharp and a bit exciting. A real killer!

Squirt Guns

It can be tricky subduing a large striper. It might take more ammo than Dunkin has in that gun. He has the killer instinct and isn't afraid to use it. Anger is such an important trait to have. With out it there would be no use for Anger Management. Throwing even more middle mangement onto the unemployment line.

This one was done for a shirt, Neptune & Mermaid Bait Co. My fascination with creating companies that would save me from going to work everyday.

A reoccurring theme of fish in cradles. I found this sketch in a drawer I was cleaning out and turned it into this in a day. I love moving forward. Quick one or two day drawings, fun, don't obsess. Move on!

The Minnesota Mermaid

My nephew, Justin, is a sophmore at UWisconsin Madison. A big fan of the Onion, especially when they are picking on the poor Patriots. So this one is for you Justin. A little corn-fed beauty with mad left hand skills!

Rodents

A filthy idea for a filthy animal. I always thought I could do a daily but the larger comic book size with more panels to convey the idea might work better. Plus the state of comics in newspapers seems to be as shakey as building big cars. Happiness is ruling your own little world.

The next line of defense against internet shenanigans, Dunkin Twitter. He can't leap tall buildings in a single bound. But who would want to. Cleaning up the internet isn't janitorial work you know.

The Real LugNut

The final real LugNut. This one would work. It's the design process. The other two were great ideas but probably wouldn't function. I am satisfied.

I found a lugnut while out walking last Sunday, maybe that was a few Sunday's ago. A friend pointed out that it was a Volkswagon or Porsche lugnut. Ah, German Engineering, good. Engineering Wonders of the World Series, Found Objects Series. So much to draw, so little time

Polar Ben

The whole Ben experience of 2009 was cronicled on a great site called the CarePages. We found out about it while we were spending time at Mass General. It really turned out to be a great outlet. Friends, family and anyone else that wanted to know about Ben's condition and progress since the New Years Eve freeze out read the CarePages. And this bear we used on Thank You cards with the little verse. It was the only explanation I had to how he survived the whole thing.

Fridaynite Resurrection

There is only one excuse for neglecting this blog since August of 2006. I was kidnapped by a department of corporate art nazis and they worked me into a creative coma. Its true. My therapist ordered an exciting new drug regime, but with some quick thinking I told her blogging would be just as affective. If I can only post and avoid that post traumatic stress syndrome.
